WALK THROUGH BETHLEHEM, NOV. 29-30, DEC. 1-2, 6-7, 9, 6:00 P.M.
- 8:00 P.M., Angus Church of the Nazarene. Walk through the
gates of Bethlehem, past the Roman soldiers and the Tax
Collector, and into the inner city of Bethlehem, as it might
have been over two thousand years ago. Street vendors are
selling their wares, offering visitors samples of their homemade
sweets and other delicacies. Innkeepers and merchants are going
about their business of commerce. Visitors encounter dancers and
strolling minstrels. Animals are to be seen throughout the
village. The road leads to a manger where a live Nativity Scene
depicts the birth of Jesus Christ. The Walk Through Bethlehem
ends when the visitor passes through an area of light and
smoke-like vapor that reminds one of what Heaven might be like.
The many participants of this magnificent presentation are all
dressed in garments typical of that time in history and speak
softly to one another of things of that time. It is not unusual
for the visitor to suddenly feel that perhaps he truly has taken
a step back in time. There is no charge for this presentation.
And, after haggling with the Tax Collector, who tries to extort
a sum of shekels from every one who approaches the gate, the
visitor learns that his debt has been paid. Jesus Christ.

It looks like disaster when Mrs. Armstrong breaks her leg and can't direct the church's annual Christmas pageant. Grace agrees to take charge, but the Herdmans--"the worst kids in the whole history of the world," according to Grace's children--show up and take over the pageant. Mayhem meets the Magi, but in the end everyone is moved by the spirit of Christmas. With lots of parts for children, this is a great family show for parents and children to work together in the cast. You really don’t have to know how to act, just be yourself! “This is one of the best Christmas stories ever and certainly one of the funniest."
