Electric Light Parade
The Ruidoso Valley Festival of Lights Electric Light Parade
was voted one of the “Top 100 Events in the USA and Canada” by
the American Bus Association for 2008.
The
Electric Light Parade is the largest Christmas parade of its
kind in the southwest and the Ruidoso Valley Festival of Lights
is honored to sponsor this premier event. FOL is expecting to
have a Stealth Bomber fly-over, which will herald the beginning
of the parade. Spectators should be prepared for the sonic boom
which will be loud and will be heard when the planes are already
out of sight. The fly-over is dependent upon weather conditions.
The dignitaries for this year’s Electric Light Parade will be:
- Colonel Michael McGee, Vice Commander of the 49th
Fighter Wing, Grand Marshal
- L. Ray Nunley - Ruidoso Mayor
- Dan Higgins, Ruidoso Village Manager
- Mark Chino. President of the Mescalero Apache Nation
Dignitaries
and their wives will each ride in a 2008 four-door-jeep
furnished by and compliments of Sierra Blanca Motors. Signage
this year for dignitary vehicles and all other FOL events will
be furnished compliments of Bear Sky Graphics.
The after-parade dinner for dignitaries, judges and workers
will be held at the Cattle Baron and is compliments of Cattle
Baron Restaurant, Inc.
Lodging for Grand Marshal Colonel and Mrs. Magee will be at,
and is compliments of, the Lodge at Sierra Blanca.
Parade entrants are encouraged to submit the parade entry
form as soon as possible. No float, however, will be turned
away. There is no entry fee, and float building advisors are
available at no charge.
